Practical Wedding Gifts: 5 Any Couple Would Love

November 19, 2020 by unraveledmotherhood 2 Comments

Shopping for a practical wedding gift can be daunting. You do not want to be cheap, but you want to get something useful. It can be a difficult task especially if the couple does not have a comprehensive registry. Here are my top 5 practical wedding gifts any couple would love.

1. Quality Bed Sheets

Bed sheets are a great wedding gift for any couple. Everyone needs a bed sheet and a quality bed sheet is something that shows thoughtfulness and practicality. The higher the thread count the better. When you choose to purchase bed sheets double-check the couple’s registry to ensure there isn’t a set they are registered for. If the couple registered for cheap sheets, you can upgrade the quality and match the colors. If the couple did not register for sheets see if they registered for a comforter so you can be sure to get a good color match.

2. An Instant Pot

The instant pot is fairly new on the market, but its versatility makes it a super practical gift for newlyweds. Gifting an instant pot provides the couple with a slow cooker, pressure cooker, rice pot, and so much more. To make the gift even more thoughtful you can print out a little recipe book where you insert some recipes you have tried or just look delicious.

3. A Cordless Vacuum

You might think a vacuum is such a boring gift to give at a wedding. It is not. I can almost guarantee there will be much celebration over this gift. Very few people enjoy spending hundreds of dollars on a vacuum. In fact, most people will put off getting a good vacuum because it just seems like a lot. Before you choose a vacuum do some research to find a quality vacuum. My recommendation is something cordless especially if the couple has a smaller space, even if the couple has a standard vacuum it is super nice to have something quick to pull out of the closet for the little messes.

4. Gift Card to Your Favorite Restaurant

Gift cards do not have to be lame. Eating is something everyone does and a little plastic card for free food is extremely practical. What you do when you give a gift card, is give the couple an opportunity to have a date (without the issue of money). Dating is such an important part of married life and giving a gift card is a great way to support the couple in that aspect. Choosing a special restaurant you are fond of makes it more personal and special to the couple. You could even hint at a double date in your card if you wanted.

5. Money

Most people know money is a great gift. It allows the couple to spend the money on what they please and if you do not know the couple well it is a great way to bless their marriage. Sometimes you want to get a specific gift for the couple, but are not sure what they need or style they would like. Giving the rough dollar value of that item and suggesting your intentions in the card is a great way to give the couple the opportunity to use the money to get what you intended if they will put it to use. This will also show the couple that you have been both thoughtful and practical in your wedding gift.

An instant pot is a great idea, and bed sheets too. My uncle offered us trees when we got married but we knew we’d move house so it didn’t seem practical. Watching them grow over the years would have been lovely though.

Trees, that’s one I’ve never heard before! Would be nice if you were putting your roots down 😉
